There are a lot of easy ways to make extra money. In this article I want to talk about some side businesses that I would start in order to make an extra 25K in the short time span of a few months.
Before we go into the 5 ways to make extra money, it’s important to understand why I chose these over many of the other businesses.
When you want to make money in a short amount of time, like 3 months, we should choose businesses where the output of work being performed directly results in more immediate monetary gains. Compared to choosing a passive income business.
So we need to choose active income businesses that rely on your effort. Because choosing other businesses like affiliate marketing or starting a YouTube channel, which are great businesses by the way, won’t bring in quick results. I’m not saying it isn’t possible, just that it’s not probable.
So with these 5 easy ways on how to make an extra 25k in 3 months, I want to focus on businesses with a higher probability of yielding a return on your sweat equity in a short time span.
Easy Ways to Make Extra Money
The first business is one that you’ve heard me mention many times and that’s because it’s the first real business that took me from barely getting by to almost half a million in the first year of starting.
In 2018 I started a business which started by accident because I was struggling financially, and my wife was pregnant with our second daughter. I had to make money fast and once I realized that this business was making me money, I went all in.
1. Flip Things
I wanted to start here because what this business taught me back then was, how focused, hard work in something as simple as flipping things for more online can change your life moving forward.
So to be successful in this small side business, you will need to know how to determine the value of an item and how to source the item.
So first to find out the resell value of an item you are looking to flip, we will hop over to the eBay app and I’ll quickly show you.
Log into the mobile app, search the item you are looking to buy, see what its actively selling for, then select the upper right had icon, select sold listings and look at what the item that you are interested in buying is being sold for. Make sure negotiate a purchase offer well below that and factor in shipping.
Next, we need to find items to flip. Here’s a few places you can check out.
- Facebook Marketplace You can often negotiate prices with sellers and then resell the items at a higher price. Look for items like furniture, appliances, bicycles, and electronics.
- Thrift Stores and Garage Sales: You can physically visit thrift stores, yard sales, and estate sales to find items to flip. Many people have found valuable items, such as vintage clothing, antique furniture, and collectibles, at a fraction of their market value.
- Wholesale Websites: Some websites specialize in selling items in bulk or at wholesale prices. If you have the storage space and capital, you can purchase items in bulk and then resell them individually for a profit.
- Auction Websites: Websites like ShopGoodwill conduct online auctions for a wide range of items, including electronics, jewelry, and collectibles. Bidding on these items and reselling them at a profit can be a good strategy.
- Local Liquidation Sales: Keep an eye out for local businesses or stores that are closing or undergoing liquidation. You may be able to purchase their inventory at a deep discount and then resell it.
I think you have the idea, a great way to make money quickly. Next business is one that is rapidly growing in popularity and make sure to stick around because there’s another one on this list that I predict is going to come full circle and start being mentioned more and more over the next 3 to 5 years.
2. Cleaning Business
A quick look at google trends over the past decade shows the increase in search volume for this business, both in starting a business and needing the service.
Notice as of 2022 the graph starts showing a huge increase in search volume.
Starting a cleaning business is a practical way to make extra money, especially if you’re looking for a small business with low startup costs and quick profitability.
Here’s how you can quickly get started:
- First find your target market, services you plan on offering, pricing, and marketing strategies. Consider whether you want to focus on residential, commercial, or specialized cleaning services.
- Then buy quality cleaning equipment and supplies. Ensure you have the necessary cleaning products, vacuum cleaners, mops, and other tools to provide efficient and effective services.
- Now promote your cleaning business by creating a professional website, leverage social media, maybe do some before and after pictures and hand out flyers in your local area. Offer discounts and promotions to attract initial clients.
- Set competitive pricing for your cleaning services. Considering offering package deals and adding a subscription model for regular cleaning would be a game changer!
- You’ll need to provide outstanding customer service to build trust and gain repeat customers.

3. Selling Courses
For this way of making extra money, you need to have a skill or be an expert in something where others feel compelled to buy your knowledge.
I’m all for selling courses to make money, I just ask that if you decide to go down this path, that you go above and beyond of what’s expected. For example, if you sell a course for $500, then the student should feel that they got so much value that they would have paid 5k for the same course.
There are course creators making millions of dollars selling courses online. The main challenge besides creating the course is to get it in front of your target audience.
Here’s how you can get started:
- First, Identify your area of expertise or skill. Whether it’s construction, digital marketing, fitness, cooking, gardening or any other subject, there’s an audience willing to pay to fast track their knowledge.
- Next you need to create the course itself: Create a high-quality course that is engaging, informative, and well-structured. Use video, written materials, and interactive elements to help the learning experience.
- You can host this course on Kajabi, click funnels or any other course platform. I prefer funnels for selling courses and you can also list the course on other major platforms where your target audience already exists like Udemy, Coursera, Teachable, and even your own website.
- Now you can promote your course by using social media, email marketing, and online communities related to your niche. You can use free webinars or introductory courses to attract potential students and funnel them to your course.
Selling courses is the one way, out of everything we will mention, that may not yield immediate income, but as your courses gain popularity you can generate a substantial income. It’s possible to earn $25,000 or more within three months, depending on whether you have a course created already or have an existing audience to sell to.
The next way to make an extra 25k is a business that I believe is a sleeper and is coming back around.
4. Trade Skill

- I think to really set yourself apart, create a brand identity and online presence. Something memorable.
- Always deliver high-quality work, be on time, and provide excellent customer service. Word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business is huge with trade skills.
Get good at marketing in your local area where you plan to do business.
Starting a trade skill business may require some investment in tools and equipment, but it is well worth it if you start making extra money doing this. With consistent work and providing exceptional service, you can quickly reach your $25,000 earnings goal within three months.
5. Freelancing
Before you vote this one out, lets look at Upwork’s breakdown on some freelancing services and what they can make annually. The catch here, that ties into how you can make 25K in 3 months, is generally, the more technical a profession is, the more freelancers in that field can earn.
Let’s look at the breakdown on Upwork’s website. I highlighted some of the ones that are above 6 figures or close to it.
These require a specialized skill or expertise. So we have Programmers, General developers, Mobile developers, Web developers, Graphic designers, Online marketers, CRM managers and data managers.
If you are able to learn one of these skills or already possess it, then Freelancing is a probable way to make extra money. Pair that with increasing demand for remote work and you can start making money fast with this side hustle.

- Create profiles on freelancing platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, or specialized job boards related to your field.
- Build a portfolio showcasing your best work and accomplishments.
- Create persuasive proposals and sales copy that clearly communicate the value you bring to the table.
- Set competitive rates to start getting clients and feedback.
- Deliver high-quality work on time.
