7 High Income Skills That Will Make You Rich in 2024 (Without a degree)

High Income Skills

Learning a high-income skill can significantly increase your ability to earn more, and when you earn more you can save or invest more, whatever aligns with your goals. These high income skills do not require a degree and the ones I wanted to discuss can help you get rich, and that’s relative, so lets say 6 figures and more a year, and can be applied whether you want to start your own business and work for yourself or use those skills to find an employer willing to pay you based on your skill and not your education level.

Learning a skill that is in high demand, when the supply of individuals with that skill is low, will allow you to ask for more AND, of course, make more money. And certain skills are valued more than others, which you can leverage in the job place or in your business.

Why should I learn a High Income Skill?

Having a high-income skill will do the following:

  1. Lead to increased opportunities
  2. Allow you to create your own value (Aligned with what the market is willing to pay for it)
  3. You’ll always have work.
  4. You can be more selective (Entrepreneur)

And according to a LinkedIn study in 2022 on more than 20 million employers. Among the high-income skills, 5 leading positions consisted of:

  1. Creativity
  2. The ability to convince or persuade.
  3. Teamwork
  4. Adaptability
  5. Emotional intelligence

So here are 7 high income skills to look out for this year that don’t require a degree.

Side hustle from your phone

Marketing is one of the greatest skills a person can learn and what this skill ultimately does is it provides visibility on a product or service. So having a skill in marketing can help both your business or your employer’s business.

And master marketers are in very high demand as they can exponentially increase the sales on any given product or service being provided. Digital marketing can include Seo, content creation and paid ads. Its main function is to bring in traffic, whether organic or paid and bring awareness on whatever is being sold.

Besides the obvious that marketers need to know how to run ads to a landing page, there is a lot more that goes into this skill, which is why it’s considered a high income skill.

Marketers need to have good analytical skills and check the metrics on how their ads and content are performing. Look for weaknesses and strengths and continue to tweak their work. You will need to be able to adapt and change, as most of the platforms like Facebook and Google are always changing their platform and rules.

You need to be creative with your copy and ideas to stand out against the competition. And most importantly always be willing to learn, as attention is always changing online and you may need to adjust and learn the new platform that’s working.

To learn this skill you can follow some expert marketers and purchase their course, or you can learn for free on YouTube university.

Next, we have –

Sales

Sales is an obvious skill that can benefit you in so many ways. It doesn’t matter if you’re a small business owner, a freelancer, or a working professional, you need to have sales skills to do well in anything.

Even when you are around others in your day-to-day life, you are a walking billboard and communicating, or selling yourself, both verbally and non-verbally. Its important to master this skill if you want to win at life in general.

People will make a judgment on you within seconds, based on how you carry yourself. And if you’re looking to advance in your career or your business, you will need to work on this skill to grow in your finances and ability to earn more.

When you learn this high-income skill, and are good at it, employers are willing to pay you a lot more, because you can achieve results that comes with being good at sales.

Being great at sales, would mean that you would have developed complimentary skills like:

  1. Perseverance: salespeople need to be able persevere through the NO’s to be able to get to that YES, and there are a lot of them.
  2. Negotiation: You will need to be able to handle objections and be quick to communicate and drive the conversation towards a possible sale.
  3. Close: You need to close in sales, this is critical whether you are an entrepreneur or working within a company. This is a nonnegotiable metric.

There’s a book I’ve read called Never Split the Difference by Chriss Voss, it’s a great read if you’re interested in negotiating.

Next, we have –

Funnels / Lead Generation

Building funnels is different from building a website. The funnel is a journey the potential buyer takes that eventually leads to a sale.

This funnel could be a VSL, webinar, landing page or lead magnet. If you have the ability to take someone’s existing business or company website and create a funnel that increases their traffic and sales, then the employer or business would pay a lot for that skill. Or if you simply build a funnel that converts their existing traffic into more sales.

If you’re an entrepreneur, then the funnel itself can drive more sales to your product or service, which would allow you to make significantly more money. And if you’re a freelancer, then businesses would be willing to pay a lot for these services, provided you can show proof of client success stories.

Next, we have

Public speaking

According to entrepurenuer.com,

Public speaking is one of the highest-paid professions in the world, making it a very valuable high-income skill to adopt.

Public speakers that are in high demand can make 5 or even sometimes 6 figures for short talks at events, conferences, and companies. When you have the ability to speak to a large audience and do it very well, it translates to more money, whether it be your personal business or the companies that seek you out.

This skill does require a lot of practice. So here are a few ways you can become better at this skill.

First you need to start filming yourself speaking, regardless of the size of the audience. You can even start with just yourself and a camera, perform a small presentation and watch yourself back and look at your verbal and non verbal communication.

You can also start doing this for free as you’re learning and as you get better, you can start charging. Ultimately, repetition is what is going to build the skill overtime.

Next, we have –

Copywriting

All of you probably heard of copywriting before, but why is it considered a high-income skill? Well, the highest paid copywriters are known as direct response copywriters, and they’re paid a lot because they are responsible for writing persuasive copy that influences the reader to take a specific action.

The action the reader takes would eventually lead to a sale. So this could be buying a product or service, signing up for a webinar, or opting into a lead magnet, and would usually require an email, name and sometimes phone number from the reader.

This is excellent, whether you’re a freelancer, working professional or own your own small business.

Copywriters can earn a flat rate per written copy or sometimes even a percentage of the net sales from the written copy they created.

Employers and companies are willing to pay a lot for this expert skill and will usually rely heavily on your previous experience more than your past education.

This ties into our next High-income skill, which is –

Email marketing

Email marketing is the OG in the marketing space, it’s the tried-and-true way of staying in front of your customers, and the main reason everyone collects an email and is building an email list. You can use this high-income skill as a freelancer, at a job or in your own business.

Email marketing is used for selling products and services. Employers may have a list already or may need your help building one. From there you send out emails consistently with copy that persuades the reader to take action. SO, there are some copywriting skills needed here as well.

Also, the emails you send out will be customized by the action the reader last took. So let me explain.

Say for example you have a client that is selling a course. The potential customer or student viewed the checkout page of the course, but never made a purchase.

The email marketer would have that tagged as abandoned cart and would have a sequence of emails for say the next 6-12 months, that points the potential customer back to the checkout page to complete the purchase.

This is an excellent skill to learn that can help you earn more in many areas.

Next, we have –

Social Media Management

This is the future moving forward, and instead of websites, businesses are using social media to build trust and awareness.

This is a high-income skill that some of you might already have. Companies and individuals are always looking to hire a social media manager who knows what they’re doing. Your main responsibility would be to post and schedule consistent content, analyze its performance, increase traffic and awareness, and be able to communicate the brands mission you’re working for, effectively,

If you’re managing this for your own business, you will be able to collaborate with other influencers to build your brand. This high-income skill will also allow you to understand the psychology around what leads people to your social media pages.

The platforms that companies may be looking to grow on could be, tik tok, twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook. Each of these platforms will be different, in the way that people interact with your content. So what works on Instagram may not work on tik tok.

Also, things are always changing, so you would be needing to stay current on trends and where the attention is at the moment and where its headed.

All these high-income skills we just mentioned pay a lot of money for a reason, and the better you are at any one of these, will result in your ability to ask for more.
